Professionally modified over 20 years by a passionate owner, it’s a fully dialled-in driver’s car that’s as at home on a back road as it is in a car show – and you could win it for just 4p.
Under the bonnet sits a fully rebuilt 1.8T AUM engine with a TurboActive hybrid KO3s turbo, JBS tubular manifold, custom exhaust, oil cooler, custom intercooler, custom intake manifold, baffled sump, lightened flywheel and more.
At just 928 kg, it was originally mapped to 327 bhp at 5,100 rpm and 344 lb⋅ft of torque, but was almost too much to handle, so it has been dialled back to 292 bhp which is still utterly savage, but at least it’s somewhat sane. Mated to a Mk3 16v gearbox with LSD, digital dash, and custom shifter, it delivers explosive yet controlled performance.
Handling is just as extreme as the power: professionally corner-weighted chassis, G60 280 mm front brakes, Mk2 rear discs, H&R coilovers, and Eibach anti-roll bars mean it corners flat, stops on a dime, and rewards any driver who pushes it hard.
