Launched in 2018, the A35 was Mercedes-AMG’s answer to competing in the 300 bhp hot hatch market against rivals like the Volkswagen Golf R, BMW M135i and Audi S3. Whilst the legendary A45 first arrived in 2013, it was the launch of the new W177 generation A-Class that brought the A35 to the market – and boy are we glad they did! 👌

With a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine pumping out a plentiful 302 bhp and 295 lb⋅ft of torque, the A35 can hit 0–62 mph in just 4.7 secs, and has a limited top speed of 155 mph. Perhaps most entertaining however is its sports exhaust system – flick the car into Sport or particularly Sport+ mode, and the flaps open for maximum noise and maximum bangs. I won’t say anything about that last bit if you don’t.

Anyhoo… almost no component of the A35’s suspension is carried over from your regular A-Class, with every part given the AMG treatment – and you can feel it too. Driven hard, the A35 has incredible traction, especially due to the impressive Mercedes-AMG four-wheel drive system. Plus it can send up to 50% of the torque to the rear axle, meaning more smiles per gallon. 😁

Most of all it’s simply a stunning-looking car, isn’t it? Finished in yellow with the much-adored Mercedes-AMG Aero Kit, it’s hard to argue this A35 isn’t one of the nicest examples around! 😍
