Howling, high-revving and widely regarded as the greatest M3 ever made, the E46 M3 is a bona fide modern classic. Its 3.2-litre S54 straight-six screams to 8,000 rpm with 338 bhp on tap, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox – and with no turbos and no electronic nannies, it’s one of the purest driver’s cars BMW has ever built.

This one is a final-year 2006 car in the perfect spec: Carbon Black over an Imola Red Nappa leather interior, with a proper manual gearbox and the big-ticket options ticked, including BMW’s Sat Nav Professional, TV function and the optional 19″ M Double Spoke alloys.
